an oldie but a goodie.

a chanel nail polish i've had for over a year, i think. i decided to use it recently because i was feeling for an off-white color. i'll get around to taking photos of my nail polish collection soon. i've been kinda busy and kinda lazy at the same time :)

oh and the box of chocolates was a gift. i thought the packaging was so classic and pretty.

turning over a new leaf

i've done my part and i believe that's all there is to it. i'm not going to bring it up again. thank you to those who understand where i am coming from :)

-edited- there's more to the story. if you want to read it, go to the previous post because i am sticking to my words of "turning over a new leaf".

Monday, August 30

unbelievable.

this is what i found a couple of days ago, in regards to my copyright post the other day.. they were all posted on different days.

and this is what i wrote on her page..

and then i received an email from her apologizing which i really appreciated. so i also emailed her back..

and that's what i replied to her after seeing on her blog that she credited her modified work of my work to my page. but as i said in the email, that's not right either because people will think that i made those, when i didn't. and the whole point of linking someone's work is to have it in its original version.

i waited for a reply. or at least for her to take it down from her blog but no. she didn't reply my email nor did she take down her posts.

so i went and wrote on her page again..

the whole weekend past and it's still up on her page. so i went again to write this..

and i thought i was being fair enough, to not have shared her web address on my blog when i found out about it. and i thought i was also being polite enough in my way of asking her to remove it, twice.

and this is what her page looks like now..

first of all, i never said that my ideas were the first nor was i the first to be in this world. that's just silly.

second of all, i am fighting for myself and my work. if you were fighting for your own work, i would respect that too.

third of all, if you really meant your apology in your email, actions do speak louder than words. you would have just taken down the posts and continue on with your life, as i continue with mine.

but then you go ahead and write that on your own blog. so that's your choice.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-edited-

she wrote me another email.

i am not going to reply to her. so if you are reading this, i am not taking the post down. taking the post down will make it as though it didn't happen. and others won't learn from it.

also, an anonymous commented asking if the photographs used to create my work is mine, as in 100% mine..

and let me make it clear here that i do use my own photos for this blog. if it wasn't mine, i would credit it back to the rightful owner. and personally, i like to create my own content because if not, blogging would be quite pointless for me.

as for my spring 2010 cahier, i did use other people's photos for some of the pages and i was contacted by one of them, even though i did credit them on the post. but as soon as i got the email, i replied, apologized and removed it from my blog, flickr and tumblr because i thought that was the right thing to do.

i'm not going to comment on what she wrote on the email above because that would just make it worse. i was already turning over a new leaf and i am sticking to it.

-edited- comments are now disabled for the better :)

one day at a time.

i guess it's for me to know and for me to take action on. that's the thing with hopes and dreams.. most of the time, they just stay in your head. but the key is to seriously execute it into actions. or else they'll be forever gone to waste and will just keep staying in your head. that would be a pity, wouldn't it?

this week will be all about executing my hopes and dreams. one day at a time.

Sunday, August 29

window shopping.

sometimes browsing too much on the internet is not good. there's always something that's gonna tempt you and make you want to buy it. here are my recent finds..

prism clear new york glasses - so chic! but the price tag is a little too much for my liking.

madewell cardigan and blazer - so very perfect for fall/winter!

chanel nail polish - need i say more? i'm really keen on the bottom two.

for now, these will stay as things that i am "currently eyeing on". once i save up enough, i guess i can splurge on one of these items :)

what are you currently eyeing on?

Saturday, August 28

chanel's particuliere.

yes, all the hype is worth it. chanel has very good nail polish.. something that's worth investing, in my opinion. i only needed one coat when i used it but others may prefer two. i can't wait to get my hands on the other new colors for this year.

so i've been getting bored of my lanvin flats lately and decided to change them up with my balenciaga. i realized something though, i am a one shoe girl now. i used to change my shoes daily, with all the different colors and shapes but now i am truly loyal. or i am truly lazy. either one :)

ps. thank you for all the kind comments on my last post. i appreciate it. since then, the person has apologized for their actions. i just hope i don't run into these kind of mishap ever again.

have a great weekend, you guys!

the issue of copyrights part two.

here i am, AGAIN writing about the issue of copyrights. sometimes, when things like this happens.. it really just makes me sick to my stomach and not want to share my work on the internet.

knowing that someone out there who freely decides to copy/re-use/alter my work and i mean, completely shred it into parts and re-make it as their own is just plain rude and disrespectful.

there's a very clear disclaimer on the right-hand side that states:
the content of this site may not be copied, modified or distributed in any manner without prior agreement. thank you.

what do you not understand from that? because clearly, you can read. but why do you choose not to comply with it and be so ignorant? i am pretty sure you know who you are so please stop.

the internet is supposed to be a resourceful happy place, not a bitter one. even though you don't see the people or talk to them.. at least have some respect for them.

put a ring on it.

my urban outfitter's knuckle ring. i thought i should post a photo of how it looks like when it's worn. i quite like it. but i have bought another one and i'm waiting for it to come in the mail. not from uo and slightly more pricey but i think it'll be worth it. fingers crossed!

any nice rings you've come across? i have a few that i've seen around the internet lately and it's burning a hole in my pocket! i'll share it in my next post.

ps. particuliere by chanel is on my nails. and that deserves a whole post on its own :)

Thursday, August 26

you can do it with focus.

trying something new with my doodles, once in a while i get bored.. like or dislike?

one of my daily bad habits.

to not use the plate that comes with my coffee cups. what are they called? cup plate? coaster plate? i don't know but i hope you know what i mean. i can never be bothered to use them and instead i use tissue.

what's your daily bad habits?

Tuesday, August 24

suede nails.

yes, i know i may be a little late with the whole suede or matte nail polish but i'm jumping on the wagon now so it's all good! my first bottle of opi suede nail polish is you don't know jacques because i wanted to be safe and i've already got the original one before, and i was getting bored of it so why not try the suede version?

all i can say is that, it's my go-to nail polish when i'm in a rush but still want colors on my nails. they dry super fast and so easy to apply! you don't even need to put a topcoat on (but it does look pretty, if you do. then again, it defeats the whole concept of "suede" nails) i'm so keen on it that i think i'll go and get other colors. i just wish they would come out with less glitter, i'm not saying that it's not pretty with the glitter but i am getting bored of glitter nail polish.

and just as a warning, it does chip pretty easily compared to the regular nail polish. but no worries, here's what i do. i have suede nails for a couple of days and then i'll put on a topcoat and make it normal looking and that will last me a whole week or more. okay, enough ramblings on nail polish. i am quite obsessed with them, if you haven't already realized!

i bought a new ring from urban outfitters the other day. yes, rings are my other obsession but i love it. it's a gold knuckle ring. there's all the rage about double finger rings but i like the simplicity of a knuckle ring because it gives statement too, when you wear it.

you can see how the suede nail polish look on my nails but really, the photo doesn't give it justice. because with photos, you can't actually feel the texture of my nails.. it's super smooth. i couldn't stop touching it for a few days, to be honest. no wonder they call it suede.

ps. isn't it cool that pablo picasso makes it sound okay to be a loner :)

dreams, trees, water and a little bit of french.

ps. i've made myself a frequently asked questions page :) it didn't take as long as i thought it would. so you can see it on the tabs at the top of the page now. i hope i answered most of your questions!

it's all up to you.

i am currently answering your questions for my faq page. it might take a while to put together but hopefully it'll be done by this week!

i think after my previous post, i am really getting the itch to shop. especially now that everywhere is selling their fall/winter collection! i always like fall/winter fashion. there's just so much more to it than spring/summer clothes but that's just my preference.

i desperately need to do some retail therapy. i know some people say that money can't buy happiness but i disagree with that.. because i really believe that money can buy you temporary happiness and sometimes, that's all you need. and in the words of blair waldorf, "whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop." you gotta love her.

ps. what are your fall 2010 must-haves?

Monday, August 23

trf/ zara fall 2010.

pretty awesome, don't you think? i am loving everything about it. from the maxi skirt to the navy blazer and the floral prints. perfection.

Thursday, August 19

frequently asked questions.

i'm thinking of adding an extra page to my blog which will have all your frequently asked questions, answered. so now is the chance, ask away!

i may or may not answer some of the questions, it depends. the ones who read my blog regularly will already know that i am a shy/private person and i don't like to expose myself in a public way. i prefer to just be known as "the notebook doodles" so please don't ask what's my name, where i am and that kind of questions.

i hope you can understand my choice to remain anonymous :) every other question is welcome. please ask away in the comment section below!

yellow makes me happy.

my mother's shoes. iced water with lemon. egg sandwiches. flowers and japanese for lunch.

Wednesday, August 18

changes in your path.

sometimes it's okay that there are glitches in your so-called plan. because sometimes those glitches may bring you something better.

it's all okay as long as you..

Tuesday, August 17

ikea dreaming.

i have always been such a big fan of ikea ever since i was a kid. something about the place makes me happy. having to see all different types of rooms in one huuuuge space makes me want to have one of my own. it's always so inspiring for me.

and the best thing about ikea is that it's so affordable but at the same time, such great designs as well! no one can beat that. they just recently released their 2011 catalog.

if i were to have my own house one day, i would like the rooms to be like the ones below. just look at the overall color palette, it's gorgeous! fyi, my favorite part of the house is my bedroom.

what's yours?

Monday, August 16

say what you need to say.

frankly, i am glad summer is coming to an end. i've never really been a summer person. i think the only thing i like about summer is ice cold drinks. but even that, i have it in winter as well..

what's your favorite thing about summer? or what was the highlight of your summer 2010?

four more pages.

curious little thing... always wondering what's out there.

instead of giving myself reasons why i can't...
i give myself reasons why i can.

the right amount of awkward.

we are the youth.

obviously these pages are highly influenced by sofia coppola's marie antoinette and lily allen's who'd have known. i wouldn't say this film is my favorite but it was very pleasing to the eyes. i love all the pastel colors. but i do like this song, it's quite catchy.

anyways, let's play another game. one top of your head, write down a film and song.

here's mine:
film- before sunset
song- break even by the script

Sunday, August 15

a satisfied stomach.

this is a random fact about me, i tend to go eating a whole week of western food and then another whole week of asian food. and other times it would be food that's in-between those two types. if that makes sense at all..?

but anyways, i really have an appreciation for pasta and pancakes. they make me happy. another random fact about me, i like fish and chicken much more than beef.

ps. we recently bought something from williams sonoma. it was a nespresso machine to be precise and it came with the cutest pineapple thing. i'm not sure what it is but i think it might be a mold? for chocolates, maybe? if anyone out there knows what it is, please tell me :)

well, isn't this a random post.

Wednesday, August 11

enjoy it while it lasts.

i just want to say "thank you" to those who participated on the t-shirt giveaway from dressing on the side. i'm glad some of you got a t-shirt! if not, maybe next time or you can always purchase one of their other designs :)

ps. the above doodle came out from my head but i'm pretty sure it's a song? hmm. i just can't remember which one..

yay for giveaway. (all gone now)

some of the regular readers of my blog will know that i was once commissioned to design a t-shirt by dressing on the side (as pictured below). and this time they are giving it away, while stocks last! all you have to do is just pay for shipping, for people in america and canada.. it's only $3.50. while for everyone else it's $13.50.

they come in the softest and lightest material and i should know because i have one :) if you want to see a photo of me wearing it, click here.

so hurry and go over to their website and click click click. it will be first come first served! and the offer will expire on friday, august 13th.

good luck.

EDITED: THERE ARE NO MORE T-SHIRTS LEFT :) THANK YOU FOR THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED!!

Tuesday, August 10

choices & talents.

sorry for the non-sharpness of my handwriting on this scan. i hope you can still read it. but just in case you can't.. i'll type it out.

"as simple as it sounds, we all must try to be the best person we can by making the best choices, and by making the most of the talents we've been given."

let's play a game.. tell me one choice & one talent of yours. mine is..
choice - strictly friends
talent - being able to paint my left nails nice and clean :)

back to miscellaneous.

apparently some people enjoy my phone photos. i thought they might have been quite boring but here it is. random shots of my breakfast drinks (coffee & orange juice), my lunch, matching stripe-y tops from uniqlo, more coffee, red nails and a randomly pretty bird.

Monday, August 9

an anonymous request.

someone left me a comment saying that they want to see more "quote cards" and i'm not really sure what they mean.. but i am guessing it's something like the above? even though the above is not really a quote of any sort.. except that it was something straight from my head.

anyways, i am open to any suggestions as to what you want to see on this blog of mine. i am currently in the state of un-inspired-ness at the moment. and i guess i need some sort of motivation or a push so that i can be more motivated? i don't know.

like what the photo above says.. some days are good, some days are bad.

-edited- this is to the anonymous who commented to this post wishing that i would doodle on other kinds of pictures, not just the sky. well.. i'm afraid i like doodling on the sky.

it makes me happy.

Friday, August 6

truffle me happy.

here's something you should know about me. i rarely cook. i love finding recipes online and i love to read about people's cooking adventures but personally, i am not that talented when it comes to cooking. the kinds of food i cook are really only edible for myself and no one else. it's rarely the case that others would enjoy my cooking and when i say "others", i mean my family because i've never really cooked for my friends.

anyways, i recently made truffle oil spaghetti and it was super easy and super yum! again, i am probably biased since i was the one who cooked it and the only one who ate it.. but yes, i love truffle oil. i've only really had truffle oil pasta and truffle oil french fries (pictured below).

i wonder what else can you make with truffle oil?

Tuesday, August 3

wishful thinking.

a pair of hunter boots, lanvin travel set and a miu miu coat. so perfect for the coming fall/winter season! all from net-a-porter.

life in general.

sometimes i have so much to write. other times, i am completely blank. why is that..?

Sunday, August 1

glitter tips.

i have been wanting to try these kind of nails for the past month or so. browsing wah nails definitely does not help either! although, i am not as courageous when it comes to my nails' design..

what do you guys think? yay or nay? personally i like it but it only lasts me for a couple of days. not even a whole week! i think the glitter was way too much for my liking but then again, that's the whole point of it.. right? i did this last week and i opted for a clean nude look this week. (nail polish shown above: opi's tickle my france-y & orly's tiara)

ps. anyone know where to buy nice but cheap nail polish online?

patience. patience. patience.

sometimes i wonder that maybe the reason, some obstacles in our life keeps repeating itself is because of the fact that it is trying out our patience. whether or not we can handle it well. i just need to keep reminding myself to take in deep breaths and let it out slowly. that's really the only thing you can do.. in such circumstances.

anyways, i did this doodle a few weeks ago. i like it. it was something spontaneous. but i'm not sure.. is having an overflowing amount of history with someone, a good or a bad thing? you tell me.

ps. hello august! i hope you'll be a great month.
