i have spent the entire day cleaning up my things. and i'm not even half way done yet, i think.. i guess that's how i'll be spending my weekend.
i must admit though.. it is pretty therapeutic, cleaning up things that you no longer want and just making more space..
but i think i have too many things for my own liking. it's like.. we go through life being so attached with our things because it has some sort of sentimental value.. i was wondering this to myself, if all of my things were to be caught on fire.. i will probably be devastated about it for about a week but i'll probably get over it after that. and i'm not saying things such as photos or diaries.. because they are very meaningful to me. but i'm talking more about things that i've purchased in the past that ended up just being junk.
so this whole spring cleaning thing has seriously taught me a lesson, to only buy things that i really need. it's probably going to be hard to remember when i see something pretty or cute but i am determined about this. i'm going to make it my goal from now on.

yep. sometimes we just get so attached to things until it's just to precious to be thrown away.
I think you're right! I buy to many useless things that I don't need, but sometimes it's just nice to treat yourself to something you might not realy need.
I agree! My room is full of unnecessary things but I just can't throw it aways because every thing has its own story :(
I know EXACTLY how you feel! About 6 months ago my grandmother decided to move into a retirement village and my mother spent weekend after weekend transporting things from her home to ours and getting them ready to sell, pass on or donate to charity. Seeing so much stuff in our lounge room really opened my eyes. Does someone really need 4 different sets of tableware?
Since then I've really thought about the purchases I make and whether I really "need" them.
I'm currently on a skincare and makeup ban - only buying new items if I need to replace something because I've run out of it. I really need to use up the products I already own!!
I've sold a lot of rarely worn clothes and books on eBay over the past couple of months which has meant that I have room and a few extra dollars to put towards quality things that I really love. I am constantly organising and minimising. I seriously believe in the mental clarity that comes with having less!
Good luck with your own spring clean.
XX
totally agree with you, since moving out for university, my stuff has grown year on year, say if I needed to move again it will definitely not fit into my parents car! need to do spring cleanning & give things to charity I think! :)
have a lovely weekend xx
You're absolutely right. Tell us how it works out for you!
You're so right! I just did a bit of a spring clean yesterday and it feels so satisfying.
Just blogged about you by the way xx
good luck with spring cleaning!
are the artworks in your notebook prints or drawings?they're lovely!
Lovely doodles, love this green colour.
Spring cleaning is all I've been doing for two weeks as I'm moving (very) soon.
I found it complicated at first but soon realized how it puts everything in perspective.

I don't buy too many things that just end up taking up space, but I do still have way too stuff from from when I was little. I really want to just get rid of it, but I'm too afraid to :( I should just buckle down and do it. I think it would be cathartic.
so true ! we want to buy something so badly sometimes and then as soon as we have it, we don't care anymore... :(
Oh yes.. I say that everythime I go through my things.. I get rid off of so many things and promise myself to only get what I really need but it's impossible, what you need now will not always be needed in the future and
im so bad at spring cleaning

i guess the more older you get the less meaningful items start to be.
it's a terrible waste. i used to gather all things i once liked and wanted and today they mean nothing to me. all that money and efforts could have been put to something that never loses its value, like experiences.
i love how your posts get me thinking.
I know exactly how you feel :) Its kinda hard though, you know? Like yes, we should only be attached to items that mean the most to us, but at the same time, I love surrounding myself with adorable things... So i think its a happy medium between being centered and knowing that it could all disappear within seconds, and being thankful for the things you have. But I think its ok to have silly items that you like... :)
How have you been?

i am doing the same thing this weekend! i have always been a bit of a pack rat, but have lately been able to detach myself to things a bit better :) glad you are feeling refreshed!!
I love your drawings!! Very pretty!! Oh, I have to get organized my room too...
Have a great weekend!! oxox
Every time I really clean I think the same.... I feel like all the things that I have sort of depress me, and makes me feel like I'm just building lots of cluster around me. Sometimes I really wish I would manage with less things.
buying things that i only need....sounds like a good plan for me too.
XOXOXO

i know what you mean.
i moved into my current house over a year ago and so many things are still packed in boxes, because i don't need them nor have room for them in my life.
i need to let them go
This is so true......and something I've been attempting as well. It's hard, especially when you love pretty things. I guess the question to ask ourselves is ~ will this 'next pretty thing' improve the quality of my life or will I forget about it in no time? Also, moving to a really small space helps ;) You have nowhere to put anything! Beautiful blog by the way......
