abstract instrumental

i have been listening to yiruma all weekend long. there's just something calming and comforting when you listen to someone play the piano. it doesn't distract you while you are trying to write in your notebook because you can actually hear yourself think of what to write. i love it.

i do have one question though.. does anyone else know of any other pianist..? i would like to have a variety of choices when it comes to my music..

I love Michael Nyman, he wrote the score for the movie 'the piano' and of course Yann Tiersen, whom we all know from Amélie. Chopin is also great, remember chopsticks from 'the notebook'? Enjoy!

my favourite pianist is JS.Bach and i agree with the comment above... Michael Nyman and Chopin are great pianists! :)

Erik Satie. Listen to Gnossienne n. 1. All his songs are very good, but this song is great.

I was going to say Yann Tierson too, he is amazing, especially the album Les Retrouvailles. I know this is totally different but have you tried Vanessa Maye, her skills with the violin are seriously cool

yuhki kuramoto's album sailing silently is gorgeous. kind of nature-y, but great piano playing, and the songs are so serene.

i can only write when listening to classical music, on a low volumn :)

sigur ros, bond, trans-siberian orchestra and vitamin string quartet.
not pianists but they play great classical-ish stuff that you can still concentrate while listening to.

I have pianists on cd, but none on my itunes so i couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Although as other commenters have pointed out you can't go wrong with the classics, like chopin, bach, tchaicovksy, lizst, etc.

it is so soothing and beautiful, the piano.

yeah, this is the blog i use. :) i`ve only seen the hollywood remake of the film. i watched it with my friends, and now i`m trying to get my mom and sister to watch it, haha!
same here, i`ve also been listening to yiruma recently, as well as other pianists. some singers that play the piano are jon mclaughlin, erin mccarley (i think - but her music`s good!) & vanessa carlton. :)
but if you just want pure piano, you can look up theheartrender on youtube.

oh isn't listening to piano so beautiful? again, sorry, i'm going to recommend Yann Tiersen, but this time his work on the film "Good Bye Lenin" it's a lovely film and the music just completes it; so wonderfully magical. i really hope you listen ♥
also, again sorry not new, but Michael Nyman's "The Heart Asks Pleasure First". amazing.

unfortunately i don't know many pianists either, which is a shame since i myself have played piano most of my life. i do, though, reckon you listen to alan silvestri's forrest gump suite (link). familiar soundtrack, not all piano but definitely one of the best.

Pretty doodle! I don't usually listen to any music when I am drawing or painting but class music is a great idea!
